Based on
the research results of the photo dynamic therapy (PDT), as
well as on the clinical results since 2004 by Metvix® the
Q.Light PDT was developed for the photo dynamic therapy.
Indication for the PDT in the dermatology:
- Actinic Keratodermia
- Morbus Bowen tumors
- Superficial Basalcell carzinoma
- Gorlin-Goltz-syndrome
- initial spinocellulare carcinoma
Effectiveness:
The topical photo dynamic therapy (PDT) is based on a selective
Destruktion by epidermal and dermal lain skin tumor cells
(depths effect 3 - 4 mm) through the use of a photosensible
substance as well as the use of light in presence of oxygen.
Tumor cells accumulate increases photosensibel materials
based on an increased Metabolism and/or its precursor substrate.
In irradiation with highly energetic light in the visible
area in the red spectral field, reaktive oxygen species,
that lead to destruction of carbon and initiate therewith
the downfall of tumor cell.

For
the optimal therapeutic effect, it needs a red, inkoherent
light source (Szeimies et al. 1996; Fijan et al. 1995). Q.Light
PDT systems issue red inkoherent light with a spectrum of 620
- 780 nm. In Treatment distance of 15 cm an energy achievement
of 70 mW/cm2 and 4.2 Joule/cm2 (min.) arises. Q.Light PDT systems
have been developed especially for the use with dermatologists.
The Q.Light devices are certified medical products in accordance
to the legal directions of the medicine product law guideline
93/42 EUROPEAN ECONOMIC COMMUNITY.
